COMIC-CON MALAGA 2025

Yes! Comic-con is coming to Malaga!

Read on to find out everything you need to know about the event.

But first, a little bit about…

the history of comic-con

Founded in the 1970’s in San Diego as a comic book convention, Comic-con now draws over 100,000 comic fans every year making it the mother-of-all super geek conventions.

The perfect scene for elaborate cosplay, fans come to mingle with their favourite comic artists and writers as well as getting autographs from the many celebrities that often attend. In 2024, the likes of Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman and many more celebrities appeared there.

Comic-con San Diego has gradually become the neurological centre for pop culture, not only comics.

San Diego Comic-Con is a California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation organized for charitable purposes and dedicated to creating the general public’s awareness of and appreciation for comics and related popular art forms, which celebrate the historic and ongoing contribution of comics to art and culture.

when is comic-con malaga 2025?

The regional government of Andalusia and the City of Málaga have worked closely with the Californian organisation in order to examine locations, capabilities and infrastructures. And finally it was decided that the European version of the San Diego Comic-Con would land in Málaga.

This unique event will take place from Thursday September 25th to Sunday 28th 2025.

where is comic-con malaga 2025?

The event will be held in the Palacios de Ferias y Congresos de Málaga (FYCMA), a convention and fair centre located halfway between the airport and the historical centre of Malaga. FYMCA was founded in 2003 and has an exhibition area of 19.500 m2, with two auditoriums, two conference rooms, one exhibition hall and much more.

But the Comic-con event is not only going to be at this location. While the FYCMA will be the centre of the convention, satellite locations are expected throughout the whole city. Some of them will be outdoors, and there will be presentations, meeting points and simultaneous shows.

Due to the international attraction and the historical importance of the event, 60,000 tickets were sold in a matter of hours. But don’t panic- the organization chose to re-open the entrance for the event, and at the time of writing there were still some tickets left for September 25th- the first day of the event. Tickets cost 50€ and are free for kids under 13 years old.

Whether you go to the convention or not, for sure there will be a Comi-con buzz around the city that everyone can enjoy.

how can i get to the comic-con convention?

In our opinion, renting a bike is your best option (of course)!

Temperatures in September are perfect for cycling and with bike paths most of the way to the convention centre, it is just a half hour cycle with no traffic jams. With a bike, you’ll then have the freedom to easily visit the Comic-con outdoor events around the city without paying for taxis or figuring out bus schedules.

As well, you can explore further afield on one of our recommended bike routes, discover coastal fisherman neighbourhoods, explore all the beaches, swim in the Mediterranean, eat some good food and enjoy the beautiful city of Málaga. Before long, you will easily understand why Málaga has been given this outstanding honour of hosting Comic-con.

The MALAGA BIKE team will gladly explain all our routes to you, giving tips on where to go and how to get there. (As well, all of our routes are available on QR codes at the shop).

And of course, you can talk comics with our in-house comic fan, Tommi! 😉

can i take public transport to comi-con?

If cycling is not your thing, then absolutely! The next easiest way to reach the FYMCA Comi-Con convention is by train. From Málaga centre, take the Cercanias LINE 1 train in the direction of Fuengirola. Get off at the station VICTORIA KENT. (It is not necessary to buy a ticket, just swipe a credit or debit card on your way in and out of the station).

However, we really do recommend discovering Malaga by bike. It gives a whole different perspective! The terrain is all flat and the distances are short enough to make travel by bike the fastest means possible. And what’s more, we have special prices for long-term bike rental.

MAY THE 🚲 FORCE BE WITH YOU!
